According to Merriam-Webster, knowledge is "information, understanding, or skill that you get from experience or education." Knowledge is something that most people desire to accumulate throughout their years. It is said that our elders are some of the wisest and most knowledgeable people in the world. Their various experiences throughout their lives have taught them many valuable lessons. "Knowledge is capable of being its own end. Such is the constitution of the human mind, that any kind of knowledge, if it be really such, is its own reward." (140) Is knowledge more valuable than wealth and success ? Some may argue that nothing is more important than success, however some argue that knowledge is more important. "The pursuit of knowledge is never-ending. The day you stop seeking knowledge is the day you stop growing."(Brandon Ciaccio) You will always meet someone who knows something that you do not. It is always important to keep your mind open and always be ready to learn something new.
What is the main purpose of receiving a degree in the college of Liberal Arts ? Liberal Arts is "an education at whose core is the study of history, the history of the struggle of individuals or peoples to create institutions- families, games, churches, schools, legal systems, governments-that will preserve an individual's or a people's freedom."(146) It is important to understand history before creating plans for the future. Doing this allows mistakes that were made in the past to be avoided in the future. "The past is where you learn the lesson. The future is where you apply the lesson."(lifehack) There are so many different paths a person can take after receiving a degree in the College of Liberal Arts. You can become a teacher, go to law school or medical school, become a psychologist, or really anything your heart desires. This degree gives a limitless amount of opportunities that we all should take advantage of!
